The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Cosplay And Convention Plans + New Cosplay!

Hello!! So I have changed my cosplay plans as you can see below. Basically I added a closet cosplay Rarity! So thats it... yup... bye XD

Oh wow! Another journal? I normally don't make so many journals! Sorry about that. But anyway I just wanted to tell you what my cosplay and convention plans are, partly to get your input and partly so I will have it written down somewhere so I might remember.

First off conventions! I have been asked a few times if that was me at *insert con here* so I'm just going to list all the cons I've been to and that I plan on going to (and seeing as I have not been to that many it won't be hard XD).

AnimeFest 2011
Anime Matsuri 2012
AnimeFest 2012 (next con)
Oni-Con 2012 (Thanks to the amazing Taylor)
Anime Matsuri 2013 (Where I will be a Host Club member!)

As for now that is it. I am going to see how AFest is this year before trying to go back next year but I'm sure I will be trying.

Now for cosplays! As for what cosplays I will be wearing to what conventions I am still unsure, but here is the basic plan for now.

AnimeFest:

Thursday: Shizuo (and late night wandering)
Friday: Anbu (Naruto)
Saturday: Korra
Sunday: Jack Atlas Team Satisfaction and/or Toon Zelda
Monday: Closet Cosplay Rarity

Fingers crossed I finish Korra on time!

Also for Monday it really depends on if I can get down to the con before we have to check out. I normally don't pack until that morning and then I help everyone else pack and on top of that I'm the last one in the shower most of the time. So I might just wear what I want to wear home (witch could be any costume XD).

Oni-Con:

The reason I am going is to be with the Host Club so I'm probably going to be Kaoru most of the time. Now seeing as we are staying at a hotel a ways from the convention I am probably going to stay in one costume the entire day. Now I don't really know the location well enough but if I can walk back to the hotel I will probably change costumes.

If the other Host Club Members change there costumes I will probably change mine too (because I don't want to be the lone Host XD), so if I do here are the costumes I'm thinking about

Korra
Rarity (closet cosplay)
Bakura (if I find the time and will power to finish him)
or Anbu (seeing as I have never been to a con without him)

Tell me what you think! Who should I take? Maybe try and take more than one? I might put up a pole.

Anime Matsuri:

Same deal as Oni-Con. I will be participating in the Host Club and I will also be helping run an art table (if AM would reply to me at least!).

As for any other cosplay plans I have a secret cosplay that I have been trying to make for over a year that I hope to finish this year and then some other small cosplays I started and never finished. I also am trying to make a Yugi Moto cosplay for my group if we all go to Anime Matsuri next year. Next year I don't think I will be making many if any costumes (seeing as my job is paying me zip as of the moment).

Well that is all for now! If anything changes I will update this journal!
